Epic Mom Fail

So the boys had picture day again.

2 picture days = 2 times mom forgot about picture day.

We got lucky the first time, pictures turned out okay.

This time, Nolan was wearing a big sweatshirt,
but at least he is always good for a big cheesy grin:

Ty, on the other hand, must have felt like he was wasting time with this whole picture-taking thing. I feel bad for whoever took his picture having to deal with a look like this:

...and let's not even mention the uncombed hair and one-size-too-small-holes-in-both-knees jeans I dressed him in.

And then there is the classic class photo:

There is nothing more hilarious than listening to your two five year old sons point out each kid is in their class and talk about who is nice and who is mean and who gets in trouble all the time and who is the loudest and who is the prettiest... I am now up to date with all the latest Pre-K gossip.

It was hopefully a good little learning moment for them because I tried to reiterate the fact that we should be nice to everyone and be friends with everyone, even if they aren't always nice to us. I also had to tell Nolan that all the girls in his class are pretty!

He said,  "Well Mom, they are just a little pretty. But Breille is REALLY pretty."

This little crush has been going on for quite some time now... Isn't he a little young to have crushes??

You should see the look on his face when he talks about her. That boy is trouble. ;)

So my question for the week is,

"At what age did you have your first crush?"

I am pretty sure I was 8. I had the biggest crush on one of the neighborhood boys: big blue eyes, Zach Morris hair-cut... it was early 90s love at first sight ;)

Hope y'all have a great Friday
and Easter weekend :)

MM: Down and Dirty

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. Down and Dirty

Mike Rowe should have been at my house this week because oh my word, was it d.i.r.t.y.

also, absolutelyincrediblygross.

The boys spent their entire spring break at home with a SERIOUS stomach bug...

For all you mamas out there with little babies... you think baby poop and spit up is bad, just wait until your "big kids" get sick.

and throw up everywhere... in the bed...  in the car... in my lap.

(for those who live in the area, if you happen to have seen a crazy blond girl trying to drive with her head stickin out the window down '78 on Friday night... that was just me. Ty threw up all over the backseat on the way

I think we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel... although goose just went to bed early saying he didn't feel good. Pray he doesn't get it too!

2. Find Your Match!
Goose and I have beautiful friends named Heather and Jonathan Cape. Long story short- Heather became pregnant with her first child and through her prenatal visits found out she had leukemia. She was able to continue the pregnancy and wait on treatment. She gave birth to an adorable little girl and is now in treatment for a very life-threatening disease. They are going through something most of us can't even imagine, and they are in our prayers daily! Heather writes a wonderful blog sharing her story and has been on news programs spreading the word about bethematch...  Go check out her blog here :)

If you don't know what is, please go check it out and sign up to become a donor. Goose and I both did it. You simply sign up on their website, they send you a free kit in the mail, you swab your cheeks, and you send it back in. Then you are on the registry to potentially save. someone's. life.

3. QR Codes

Do you know what they are? Do you use them? Would you use them?

If you have a super fun fancy smart phone, scan this and see where it takes you!! (and let me know if it works...)

Also, click here to like Sailor Studio on Facebook and enter to win a little wearable art =)

4. Lastly, A Serious Question...

Are you ever to old for a bathroom photo montage??

I think not.

Happy Monday Y'all!!

Who am I? No More, No Less

"The act of putting pen to paper encourages pause for thought, this in turn makes us think more deeply about life, which helps us regain our equilibrium."  ~Norbet Platt

Writing puts certain things into perspective for me. When I struggle with something, writing it out helps give me direction and always makes me feel a little more balanced.

After fasting and praying over the last week, I came to a realization about myself.

...and what I really want out of life.

We all have material dreams... wants and desires that stem from what we would like to accomplish in this life. I want to be a good wife and mother, I want Sailor Studio to succeed, I want to finish college next year.

But honestly, my true desire can not be spelled out in checklists and monetary amounts. It is not an award or diploma, and it is not a certain house or a wardrobe.

My dream is a person... or moreover, an identity.

A tangible change in myself.... a change that is taking place more and more each day because I am finally allowing my faith to mold me into something better than I am.

My joy is in the hope of miracles... and of a Savior who is so real and tangible that I can hear his voice and see His path without question.

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2 (NIV)

The person who questions everything, who is fearful of rejection and persecution... the person who just wants to "mind my own business" is fading away.

Because even though it might be "comfortable" to stay in my self-involved little bubble, never giving Him my all... I will also miss out on a joy and peace that only comes from living in the Spirit of the One who gave us life.

I'm not interested in more "religion," I want a life filled with purpose. I want to be able to pray with the power of a righteous man. I want to forgive and forget, to love with abandon, without requirement or expectation.

What I desire above all else is to love Him with all my heart and all my mind and all my soul.

I am far(far far far) away from perfect, but there is one thing I am sure of:

I am a daughter of the King.

...and because of that incredible gift, I can not be satisfied with giving Him anything less than my best.

11 You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
LORD my God, I will praise you forever.
Psalm 30:11-12(NIV)

Happy Friday y'all =)

One new addition :) and 4 other things.

1. We have a new family member! My Auntie Rita and Uncle Kab welcomed their first child, little Miss Sadie into the world yesterday afternoon.

Looks just like her mama! =)

We had a little party in the waiting room- so exciting!

I am now writing on my 6th… yes, 6th laptop.

Do you know how hard it is to keep up with email, blogging, website, etc. when your computer gets broken once a month?

I have had this one for a couple months and I am just now getting all my programs, bookmarks, toolbars, and photos organized...

It’s exhausting.

I didn’t actually break the last one btw, that was Reese… and it was Goose’s laptop that he had for 2 plus years until I started using it.

Sorry, hun. .. Seriously.

My goal is to keep the new one for at least a year.

One year without coffee spills, kids pushing it off the table, or Reese sticking random things into every port until it blows up.

Oh yeah, I also cracked the screen of my brand new phone.

I think I had it for a full month without breaking it… and did I mention I somehow did this with anOtterbox phone cover?

I don't know what to do.

Is there somewhere I can go just to get a new screen without it
costing a fortune?

Electronics just don’t stand a chance around me. Ughhhhh.

I finally got back to running- did a 5k with the fam on Saturday.

My Uncle Tim won the whole stinkin thing!

...and my Aunt Tanya won her group too. They rock =)

Speaking of running...

I got proof! (albeit, a little blurry)

Goose on a treadmill.

Cutting off the ponytail and exercising...

I  guess turning 30 is finally hitting him ;)
