MM: Stone Mountain and the 21st Century

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. The 21st Century

Technology has taken over our house. Goosers and I both got new phones and along with our tvs, laptops, and cameras... I feel a little run over with gadgets. One of the boys seen a picture like this the other day and said, "Mom, what isss that?"

I said, "That's what phones used to look like honey."

So of course he asks,

"Can you play games on it?"

  um, no.

I mean, Reese already knows how to use a touch screen and he is two. TWO.

He Looooves Wordwithfriends.

I am not the most observant person in the world. I usually will not notice your new haircut or your fabulous new purse... That is why I wasn't surprised that I didn't realize Ty has been wearing shoes that look like this for over a week.

Yes, his toes are fully sticking out.

To be fair, he has only had these shoes for about three weeks, but he uses his feet to stop himself when he rides his little car down the driveway. We wear shoes out around here like nobody's business.

I love that toddlers have no sense of embarrassment. They are just free to be exactly who they are and look as ridiculous and goofy as they want.

That is why I don't feel too bad about laughing as Reese comes so proudly out of the bathroom, having pulled up his pants all by himself, and walks around for the rest of the afternoon looking like this...

Sundays have always been my favorite day of the week. Church and big family dinners, usually followed by cake and ice cream to celebrate one of the 40 (I think that is what we are up to these days)  birthdays we have on my side. Then, games, walks to the park, volleyball, etc.

Yesterday, my little Tybo and I took a trip up Stone Mountain with some of the fam...

My grandparents have lived about a mile from the mountain my whole life, but it is still fun to make it to the top and see the incredible view.

Even my beautiful Aunt Rita made it to the top at 8 months pregnant =)

Speaking of pregnancies, I am going to another baby shower this Saturday. This will be the third shower already this year. I have been happy to celebrate all these new additions, but it is NOT helping my baby fever...

     Happy Monday Everyone! : )

First ever VLOG post: This is how we roll =)

I am participating in Show Us Your Life with Kelly from Kelly's Korner this week.

Her theme is "show us what you make."

What I make, is enamel on copper art and jewelry. I grew up watching my mom and Margaret Ratcliff making enamel on copper decorative plates in her shop. Recently, my sis-n-law, Britni, and I began working with my mom at the shop learning the ins and outs of enameling.

This past year, we decided to apply for an "Art Incubator" program in the Village of Stone Mountain.

We made it into the program and created Sailor Studio.

(our workshop)

We share a gallery and storefront with another local artist, Tracie Hawkins, and we have our workshop there as well.

My sis-in-law and I have been mostly working on the Sailor Studio "wearable art" line. Our goal is to make jewelry that is artistic and unique.

We want to our pieces to be conversation starters
and get you the "Wow, where did you get that?" comments :)

And we also create custom baby plates which can be matched to nursery decor. =)

We absolutely love what we do!!

We hope that it shows in our workmanship
and the way we do business. =)

If you are interested in a virtual tour of our gallery, I did my first Video Blog yesterday!

We finally uploaded a lot of pieces to our Etsy shop, so check it out and let us know what ya think =)
Like us on Facebook for updates and giveaways:

Thanks for stopping by!!

Starting this business with my family is a dream come true for me.
So my question this week is...

If you could do anything(career-wise) what would you do?

MM: Proud and Offended

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

We are still quarantined in the house today...

The boys have been sick all weekend: snotty noses, coughs, and 102 degree temperatures. They were just pathetic... especially little Reese.

They are looking and feeling somewhat better today, but I figured they could use a day to recuperate before they are released back into the wild (aka preschool).

Spending so much time at home last week made me notice a few things around the house... like the fact that this guy:

has been hanging out on our living room ceiling for about 4 months now.

But don't worry, he isn't lonely...

His little buddies YellowGuy and Mr.GreenHand are hanging out in the hallway.

Ty got student of the month! We went to a (very early) breakfast at the school for him and he was so excited =)

(Ty and one of his BFFs)

This is my husband...

...he has a ponytail. A PONYTAIL.  For those who know me, you know that I am This is far, far past the shaggy look that I adore. I am starting to think he is trying to see how long it takes before I cut it myself...

probably not that far off.

Speaking of hair, mine got a much-needed uplift last week.

Being blond is very high maintenance... but after about 10 years of doing anything and everything to my hair, I finally have it down to a science.

I went a little lighter this time- pretty much platinum... and of course I had to add a few side bangs for flare.. (I cut them too, you can learn to do anything on the internet. :)

I woke up the next morning after doing my hair (I always end up doing it at like midnight) and Goose told me I look like a groupie from the 80s...

(I think it probably had more to do with the retro Mtn Dew T-shirt I was wearing than the hair, but still)

 Thanks hun. :)

So how was your week?

FF: Cranky McCranky Pants

I woke up yesterday on the wrong side of the bed… seriously. It was just one of those days where I felt quiet and grumpy and under-excited about the day. I was annoyed and depressed about everything… and I couldn’t shake it.

Since I was working from home and the boys are out of school this week…

I decided to do something about my horrific mood.

So I turned off the computer and told the boys to get their shoes on.

I went outside on what had to be the most beautiful day of the year and instead of just watching my kids…

I decided to become 5 years old again.

We played duck, duck goose, ring around the rosie, and bowling… We did cartwheels, hand stands, and sprints. We spun ourselves dizzy, jumped on the trampoline, and rolled in the grass. We rode the scooter up and down the driveway until my legs burned and I raced Nolan backwards, forwards, sideways, skipping, and flipping around the house (got some strange looks from the neighbors on that one)

I ran around the yard until my lungs hurt with three little boys that mean more to me than I could ever have the words to explain.

I did it all without the camera because I just wanted to enjoy the simple moments that too often pass me by.

Later, after bed-time prayers, hugs, and many, many kisses, I tucked my (totally exhausted) boys into bed .

The house grew quiet, and as I sat on the couch with the other love of my life…

 I smiled.

Bad mood… over.

So my question this week is… how do you get over a bad mood?

MM: What do You do with your Christmas Tree?

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. I got a new phone... Thank you everyone for the reviews on my last post  =)  ...we went with the EVO (and no it wasn't because of the ridiculous kick stand... does anyone actually have time to watch movies on their phone??)  basically it came down to price... and the camera was really nice =)

We will see how it goes. Sprint has a 30 day guarantee thing, so if this thing ain't rockin my world by then, I'll be getting an iphone.

(Hopefully, it won't get broken before then... Goose REFUSES to get insurance on anything electronic, so it will be pretty sad when the boys decide to play the "kicking game" with my phone and I am totally out of luck.)

2. Valentine's Day has never been a big holiday in our house... but it is usually the one day a year I get flowers (the hubs isn't the most original guy on the block)

We will see if he comes through this year (he hasn't got home yet from visiting his mama in the hospital- she had surgery today, and everything went well- Love You Mama B! )

3. I just realized Sunday night that the boys are out of school this week... something called Spring Intersession... hmmm, all we had when I was in school was Spring BREAK... and it was not in the middle of February.

But, thankfully, it is supposed to be really nice outside this week, so I am excited to have some extra time with my babes =)

4. Sailor Studio just reached 300 fans on Facebook- Yay! I worked on our Etsy store more this week, got a few things posted. We got our first Etsy sale on Friday... from someone in California :)... now I just need to take better pics of our stuff to get more uploaded online... (To read more about why I LOVE my job: Click here =)

5. We had our annual Christmas tree burnination party this past Saturday... some good redneck fun was had by all =)

(sorry about the video- I took it on my phone and wasn't quite sure which way was up ;)

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!!
