What have I gotten myself into?

Hope everyone has big, big plans this weekend....

We usually do NOTHING on Memorial Day... But this year, we are FINALLY going on our camping trip that we have been talking about for years...

I have been camping plenty of times before, but you know, the kind where you stay one night then head home in the morning for a nice, hot shower... or have a "campsite" with restrooms right down the road...

This is my first real camping trip... camping as in, hiking about 8 miles into the woods, setting up a tiny tent, building a fire and catching fish in the river or else go hungry for 3 days.

Eeeek! okay, I am a pretty "outdoorsy" type of girl, but I have never stayed 3 days anywhere without a bathroom... and I am the worst packer EVER (when we went to the beach, I forgot to pack Goose's swimshorts... seriously).

I have NO idea what I should be taking/wearing? any ideas/necessities?? anyone ever hiked and camped before?

The kiddos are not going with us, so hopefully it will be a fun, relaxing weekend with Goosers and 2 other couples...

I think it will... as long as we don't run into any of these:

So, if I am not back by Monday, please send out a search party in the North Georgia Mountains!!

Have a great holiday weekend everybody!! =)

Warrior Dash Mayhem!

Mckmama- Not Me Monday

We left for the Warrior Dash early Saturday morning ...

I definitely did NOT make a CD with songs like "Eye of the Tiger" and "I am the Warrior" to listen to on the way to the race...

I am definitely NOT that intense...

We then did NOT pass the time on the way up by working on our warrior costumes 'cause you know, my family would NEVER jump at any chance they can to dress up...

Bibs and time chips on, ready to race!

(Cousin Max and Cheryl/Me/Aunt Tanya/Cousin Liv/Aunt Gina)

I was NOT a little nervous at this point after my Uncle Jay had just ran up and told us it was a lot harder than we thought....

Here we go!!

We ran almost a mile, then got to the first obstacles...

I did NOT have to doggy paddle through this one...

and I did NOT almost bust it going over the tires...

... and I would NEVER use the side of the path to kinda boost my way over the last wall on this obstacle.

(in my defense, I was at a slight disadvantage on this one)

After the worst mile of my life up a muddy mountain, over rusty cars, through tunnels, and climbing a cargo net...

I finally made it to the "Mud Pit"...

I did NOT have this big goofy smile on my face the whole time =)

Finally, after the log roll and jumping over a fire
(scary!!)

I made it!!

We finished!

Of course, we would NEVER jump back into the lake to clean up a little bit...

Then spend a little time "people watching" the other racers...

There was NOT an amazing amount of people dressed up (a lot crazier than us)...

We watched the costume contest, listened to a little music then headed home....

I'm so thankful to my sweet hubby for taking all these pictures
(it does come in handy that he doesn't like running =)

A great day!! (...and later, the best shower I've ever had)

Can't wait for next year!!

Sometimes on Vacation...

Sometimes on vacation....

Your husband totally wipes out while kayaking and it cracks you up...

You drive an hour out of the way just to eat at a cheesy tourist restaurant...

You and your hubby go for a romantic bike ride, and his pedal falls off a quarter mile down the road...

You eat way too much of everything... and try out some new things (clams were not my fav)...

Your husband eats raw oysters all week long and you seriously dry-heave every time he takes a bite...

You take cheesy pictures with your youngest son...

... and your mama.

You freak out over all the sand crabs...

you take the time to ponder a chess move...

your super-weird fun family plays their own version of Survivor...

Complete with survivor challenges...

Then, you play the Wii game"Just Dance" for 3 straight hours... and suddenly realize that you are not supposed to use the numchuck part of the remote... whoops.

Your twins love to make crazy faces... and you let them...

You try to get an adorable pic like last year... but your youngest son ain't havin it...

...but he doesn't mind doing a GQ beach body pose for the camera later.

...and sometimes you ask your sis-n-law to take a dorky picture of you on the beach... just because you bought that dress 2 years ago and this is the first time you ever wore it... and who knows when you will wear it again...

On the last day of your trip, you and your family (who can't take a serious picture to save their lives) actually think it is a good idea to eat at a nice beach restaurant....

with 3000 kids...

Of course, you always believe you will get a nice family beach pic with your husband and three little boys...

but they usually end up like this...

I think this was my favorite (look at Nolan's ridiculous "cheese" face...bahahaha) ...

and every time you're on vacation...

it comes to end...

and you simply leave with your pictures and your memories. =)

(last beach post, I promise ;)

I am finally back!

I have finally made it back to the blogging world! I have missed you! =)

We got back last week, and then I felt a little under the weather for a few days (maybe it was just vacation-withdrawals)... Mother's Day hit me pretty hard... which for some reason I wasn't expecting...

But anyway, I am here now, and guess what I am typing on??

My super sweet, lovely, kind, forgiving ;) husband got me a laptop from his work (one perk of being married to computer nerd) It is just a basic IBM thinkpad, but it is AWESOME to someone who thought there was no way her hubby would trust her with another one and thought she would be without a laptop forever!!

Annnnd, I finally got to upload my pics and my Aunt Steph's from vacation...

There were so many great ones.

I will share a few of Steph's (you know, because mine don't really compare)...

Have y'all ever used Picnik for editing photos?
I tried out a few of their free editing tools with these pics... It is awesome for amateurs like me!

Nolan... Mr. Serious.

I think Reese was trying to grab (his cousin) Nora's hand and she was like, "ummmm, No way mister!! I do what I want!" (in her Super Diva 2 year old voice)

One of my favorite moments~ The boys helping me collect shells on the beach...

Steph was sneaky with the long lens, had no idea she got these!

Are they really this big???

Okay, the picture below is now one of my all-time favorite pictures...

It shows all of their personalities so well! I told them to put their arms up and yell: Nolan (on the left) does it perfectly, and even manages a smile(over-achiever)
Reese(middle) has to be completely Dramatic and over the top and doesn't really listen to what I said...
and my sweet little Tybo is thinking, "Why are we doing this? I don't get it."

Awww, my little guys... love, love, love them!

I have a few more good ones to post tomorrow, along with some of the "outtake" photos =)
